Patricia Almeida
Patrícia Almeida (1970) graduated with a degree in History from UNL in Lisbon and one in Photography from Goldsmiths College in London. She is interested in documentary photography as a language of expression and as an area of research and artistic creation. Her exhibitions often reflect the coexistence of various media: photography, screen printing, video or slide projections. Her projects are frequently featured in artist publications, an important aspect of her work, as evidenced by the fact that she has already published five books. In 2009, Almeida was nominated for the Portuguese Besphoto contemporary art prize for her exhibition and book project ‘Portobello’. Almeida is the founder and editor of GHOST editions. Since 2003, she has been a member of POC/Piece of Cake, a network of European and North American artists who work with photography and video.
