Marie Sommer

Marie Sommer (b. 1984) graduated in printed image department from the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and continues with her interest for printing technics and photography with studies in the École de la Photographie in Arles.
During her studies she starts publishing books with Editions Filigranes and the author Jean-Yves Jouannais. She has taken part in several residencies in Spain mostly: Bilbao Arte, Matadéro Madrid, Casa de Velázquez Académie de France à Madrid, Planches-contact Deauville, and Feldstärke programme in Pact Zollverein Essen, Montevideo Marseille, Kyoto Art Center. Her works have been shown in various institutions and art spaces, including Le BAL Paris, Rencontres d’Arles, PhotoIrland Festival Dublin, PHoto España and Transphotographiques de Lille.

Her practice is in the interface between various mediums as she uses installation, video and photography and she mixes different types of printed images and archives pictures.
